Princess Informative - Golden Princess Cruise
We paid for a Golden Princess cruise and travel insurance in October of 2007. When we arrived with all the documents necessary and in fine health at the airport on December 30, 2006 at 5:30 a.m., we were informed that our flight to New Orleans had been cancelled and we had been rescheduled for the following morning. Since our ship was leaving New Orleans that evening, this wasn't going to work. Subsequently, we spent most of the day calling Princess, American Airlines and BerkelyCare, the insurance company. Their only suggestion was to take the next day's flight, find a hotel in New Orleans, find a flight on Monday to Jamaica, find a hotel, and then board the ship on Wednesday in Jamaica. For our trouble and additional expense we would be reimbursed $500 each at a later time! We thought we arranged for an all-enclusive package so Princess would arrange our relaxing vacation. We refused this option.
The Princess representatives were terribly rude, but American and BerkeyCare folks were polite in delivering their information. Since that time I have been writing to Princess asking for a refund to no avail. They did send vouchers for a future cruise and we refused them. Why would we ever want to entrust ourselves to a company who has taken our money in return for NO services? We thought we did everything required, even buying travel insurance.
