Ricoh Informative - Bad support - Symantec Customer Support

TAMPA, FLORIDA -- I bought Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition software to install on my client's Win2003 server and to roll in out to 12 workstations. After receiving the license via email, I downloaded, from Symantec's website, SAV Corp ED ver 10.2 for Win2003/XP/Vista.

Symantec's support provided me with installation notes (n2006032313380648)which cannot be followed to the T---it is for antivirus and Firewall installation.

After running into initial installation problems, I called symantec Tech support. From when I called them till all the "screening to see if you have a tech support contract" was completed to when I got through to a Tech took 90-minutes. I have been sitting online with the India Support for more than 4-hours and we did not resolve the issue. The tech said I needed to download version 10.1.6 of the product (450-MB) and I did so.

Needless to say, after the 1-hour download and following their instructions, I am back to the "not working" point. I called them again today (06/26/07) and since; I picked up the phone, went through another screening process, getting to the Tech of yesterday, and the Tech trying to get a higher level of tech support person (and I am still waiting), they have waisted 100-minutes of my time.

This is VERY BAD SERVICE. I am at a loss with Symantec and want to give the product back to the supplier and may be I just go to Mcaffee.

Did you disable your firewall and anti-virus while trying to install the program?

Why is your complaint titled Ricoh Informative? Are they connected to Symantec?

My experience with McAfee is that it slows down computers. Perhaps yours may be different.
