Restaurants Informative - People Suck - other customers

Review by BobonmeFrank on 2007-06-27
I waited tables for 5 years until it lead to something better. I just want to say that all you people out there that complain and whine about stupid stuff that is out of the servers hands just need to stay in and cook your own food! Especially those of you that only go out to get free food. You take advantage of the great customer service that these people offer just so you don't have to spend money. I've seen people who come in without ANY money and try & try to get stuff for free and when they cant do it, they just walk out without paying. Everyone of you should be arrested, have your picture in the front page of your local paper with CHEAP written on top of your picture. Oh and don't get me started on those of you who run your servers to death and don't leave a tip at all or you leave like $2 on a 60 bill. just keep your $2 and stay at home. And those of you who just don't tip, or come in 2 minutes before a place closes, you are horrible people! You all should have to wait tables for a week and let people like me come in and act like you do, then lets see how you cheap, awful, ignorant, self righteous people act the next time you go out to eat.

"BobonmeFrank"? Is that a homosexual slang term?
Posted by Anonymous on 2007-06-27:
Frank, having worked in the food industry I feel your pain and know people that do that stuff. From your experience who are the worst tippers? Male or Female? Young or Old? Just curious.
Hey, EM.
Posted by yoke on 2007-06-27:
If I had a waiter/waitress with this attitude I wouldn't tip either.
Posted by Anonymous on 2007-06-27:
Zork, when you "worked in the food industry", you weren't the only one "feeling pain."
Posted by Anonymous on 2007-06-27:
If I ever (which I have not) were to leave no tip it would be because the waiter has a crappy attitude. Might explain why you get stiffed a lot? I have tipped as low as 5% - 10% due to a really crappy attitude from the server, really nice servers even having to serve crappy food will get 18% - 25% from me.

Pomona, I think it is. Australian gays say it to each other.
Posted by Anonymous on 2007-06-27:
Wow! Glad I never had you serve me food.
Have you had your ass kicked much because of your crappy attitude?
If not your due!

Pirate, what are you talking about now?
Frank, you'd better get over here and "straighten" things out. You are losing potential customers. Pirate, for one travels extensively and goes to the local Applebees wherever he stays so don't burn any bridges my friend.

You're making no sense and you don't know how to use commas.

Huh? Well I did get the facts straight about you didn't I?

I agree with you on the points you made. But you left out the ones we actually complain about; wrong orders, no food for someone, having to constantly flag down staff when they don't ask how we are doing. And WHO leaves the house with no $ and tries to eat out? Seriously? What a waste for everyone involved. When my family eats out we are patient and tip very well. We expect to get what we order in a reasonable amount of time. If our server has a chip on their shoulder, they need to eveluate their job, not pass it onto us.

So who's fault is it when I can't get a table or service once I'm seated (even during non-rush times), can't get an order placed, can't get drinks and/or refills, get cold food and/or wrong food, and can't get a check when I'm finished? It may not be all the fault of the wait staff, but a lot of it is. Just like customer service in this country, service and food at restaurants is going in the wrong direction rapidly.

Is Frank there with you, pirate?

I worked in the food industry for 10 years and i know exactly what you mean people trying there best to get free stuff. They'll try anything and everything. The biggest problem with the food industry is that there are so many scam artists out there you don't know whos telling the truth and who's just trying to get free stuff, so you can't trust no one.

Ouch Ouch Ouch Bobo-frank, did you just get canned? You forgot to mention the inconsiderate morons who let their childred run wild in the dining room, creating a huge safety hazard for patrons & wait staff carrying lots of HOT items. Anyway, for your sake and mine, I hope you're out of the foodservice business.

BobonmeFrank, Good vent review hope you really found something better and when you go into a place to eat remember your own words.

I will cook my own food.
Posted by jeremy2007 on 2007-06-27:
I agree. Just remember, when you complain and start making trouble, a little something"extra" may be added to your food.

I'm with ejack on this one.

Posted by Anonymous on 2007-06-27:
What do you mean emt? You are not cooking for me anymore?

I worked in the food industry for some time after I graduated from high school, so I know when the waitstaff ccan or can't help something. Slamming a plate of food down on the table so hard it splashes gravy all over my lady's dress because you have to work Christmas day was the fault of the waitress. Giving the pot pie we had ordered to a person in the drive through was the employee's fault. Not making the order up correctly was the employee's fault. Undercooking the food and leaving it sit on the pass shelf was not the waitstaff's fault, but the cook's. As far as tipping goes, I left a penny once. The waitress asked if I called that a tip, I said, "No, I call it a suggestion." My ex-wife used to through hissy fits when I tipped well. I had worked as a carhop and a cab driver, and both depended on tips. My ex had a warped idea of what waitresses made. But the most important thing needed is a good attitude, which, my friend, you ain't got.

Posted by DebtorBasher on 2007-06-27:
I do have to agree with the poster here on this one...I've heard some very interesting stories from people who worked in your position. And, you are right if they walk out without paying, it's no different then walking out of a store without paying for their merchandise!
Posted by ejack053824 on 2007-06-27:
Call the cops and have the guy arrested. I agree with Basher on that! I can't stand a thief, liar, or cheat! If the service is great...the waitress gets 25% and a referral. I have one girl at the Longhorn steakhouse who is the only one that is allowed to serve me. If the bill is $30.00..she gets a $20.00 tip from me. I believe in taking care of waitresses who take care of me. Everyone else should abide by that standard if great service is rendered.

A few of my son's friends left without paying. When I found out about it I told their parents, and we marched them right to the restaurant and made them pay, even if it was a few days later.
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2007-06-28:
...the only one you ALLOW to serve you? LOL! What an honor!
Posted by rnick821 on 2007-06-28:
I agree with a lot of the things the OP says...with the exception of walking into the restaurant 2 minutes before it closes. If the restaurant closes at 10pm, I expect that I should be able to be served at 9:59pm. Otherwise, you need to post a sign something to the effect of "Hours: 8am-10pm, last seating at 9:30pm". I remember going to a restaurant at 9:30pm when it closed at 10:00pm and was told by the staff that I HAD to get my order to go as no one was allowed to sit in the dining room after 9:30pm. My complaint to the corporate office on that one got me $30.00 in gift certificates. :)

As I know that serving in a restaurant is REALLY hard work, I try to give my servers the benefit of the doubt...I always tip 20%, and a server has to work really hard at being bad to get less than that. It does, however, happen on occasion. I don't care how bad your day is going, if you are completely apathetic about your work, you don't get a gratuity.

Exactly Basher....BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Posted by Skye on 2007-06-29:
It works both ways. Sometimes the servers have suckful attitudes, and sometimes the customer's have the suckful attitudes. And sometimes the wrong server gets the wrong customers, and they both suck.
