Edwards theaters, AMC, UA Theaters Complaint - Commercials at the movies

Review by Anonymous on 2002-06-23
CONNECTICUT -- It is bad enough for the consumer that it now costs up to $10.00 dollars to go see a movie. At least it did not have commercials. I don't consider coming attractions commercials. Once inside the theater they have a "captive" audience. There is no getting up to go to the fridge or snack bar since you don't want to miss anything. I went to see Windtalkers the other day and was forced to sit through 2 car commercials (they were so effective that I don't even remember the maker), 1 long one for Cocacola and a couple of special service announcements. That really made me angry. One of the nice things about going to a movie is the LACK OF commercials. I think it is deceitful and a lack of good service to the public. If I want to waste my time watching stupid commercials I will stay home and watch television. If I am going to be subjected to this each time I go, I will simply wait for the movie to come out in DVD/Video and watch it at home without the commercials.

You pay for cable and have commercials.
Ignore them/talk through them.

Whats the big deal about a couple of commercials before the movie starts. If you rent a tape/DVD they have previews and commericals on them too.

My complaint is about the AMC theaters listing their movie schedule on the Internet, having many people (I met with at least 15) in the lobby of their theater waiting to purchase tickets to a movie that is not showing at the time as advertised. This has happened more than once and I'm through with AMC! Regal here I come!!!
