Beltway Auto Mart Complaint - Does not stand behind vehicles sold - Used 2000 Land Rover Discovery

Used 2000 Land Rover Discovery - Complaint
Review by buddymastin on 2007-06-29
PASADENA -- I bought a used 2000 Land Rover with 59000 miles from Beltway Auto Mart. Before I drove the car off the lot I noticed the rear door would not open from the outside. I was told to bring the car back and they would take caare of it. On the way home I noticed the cruise control and the electrical controls for the passenger seat did not work. I brought the car back in for repais. The car sat at their lot all day. I called them twice and finally they said come pick up your car. I said is it repaired? They said no, we are not spending one penny to fix this car. I spoke to the manager who said we don't have to fix your car and we are not going to fix your car. It clearly stated on the window it comes with a 90 day warranty which includes electrical system. I guess I should have remembered, buyer beware.

Used cars are normally sold, "As Is." Did you get a Bill of Sale, contract or other such paperwork? Did you read it thouroughly? Did it state in print that they would repair anything wrong with the vehicle? I don't think so. Sorry, but you bought a used car, and if something iw not right with it, you have to fix it. Caveat Emptor.

Did you take it for a test drive first to check all these things before you bought the Land Rover??????

Did you obtain a Carfax report, which would disclose if the vehicle had any prior damage from accidents?

Did you buy an extended warranty on your Land Rover? Scratch that: extended warranty are worthless.

It probably had 129,000 miles on it, but they rolled the odometer back, too.

If you can prove odometer rollback (which car fax might) you may be able to undo the sale since odometer rollback may be considered fraud where you live.

Do you have the paper with the warrenty? Might be advisable to check with a lawyer on this one, especially if there's evidence of rollback.

This place is crooked and one of the worst places I have ever dealt with. You should have done what I did. Get a lawyer!! I am suing them. My car didn't even last 6 hours and they refuse to call me back or fix it.

Trust and Used Car Salesman are just about as opposite as black and white. Get everything in writing before you leave the lot or you don't have a leg to stand on.
