American Airlines Complaint - Non changeable ticket
CALIFORNIA -- A few months ago my 18 year old son purchased a ticket on AAL from SFO - LAX - Cabo San Lucas. His ticket was not refundable and nonchangeable. As he is a student at UCSB and trying to work and go to school his schedule in tight. He had to work the day before his trip to Cabo. Rather than drive to SFO, 6 hours I suggested he try and catch the flight out of LAX a two hour drive from SB. When he called the airline they refused to let him pick up the flight in LAX. If he missed his flight from SFO to LAX he would loose his reservation. What is the purpose of this?? In essence he was giving them a space on a booked airline that they could resell. It would have would have been simple indeed. My son called, went to the airport in SB and spoke to an airline representative, I called spoke to a supervisor as did my husband. Each time we were met with the same, a rule is a rule is a rule. It is odd that when the flight is oversold they think nothing of bumping a passenger, this would have been a simple act of good business on the part of American Airlines something the travel industry should start thinking about. Needless to say I will never travel on American Airlines again.
