Gabriel's Lounge Compliment - Good Pub Food
ROSEVILLE, MICHIGAN -- Had a house guest last week. We went to visit an old friend of hers. Since it was near lunch time, the friend suggested we go to Gabriel's Lounge, 27715 Gratiot Ave., Roseville MI, for a bite to eat.
I ordered the 1/3 pound burger, my friend had the French Dip sandwich. The third party didn't order food. I decided on onion rings to accompany the burger. The French Dip recipient decided on stir-fried veggies. I was pleasantly surprised at the prices. My burger was $3.95, the French Dip $4.95.
Both our orders and the atmosphere were reminiscent of 'Pub Food.' The bartender went into the kitchen to prepare our orders. I could tell by the shape of the burger it was not made from a frozen patty. It was thicker in some spots than others--and done medium, the way I like them. The French Dip also had unevenly cut slices of beef. Both were delicious and filling.
The menu was written on a chalk board. They even offered a Grilled Cheese sandwich, although I doubt it would be a big seller there. Others told us the Chili would also be a good choice.
Since I was the DD, I had coffee. The other two drank Bud Light. Couldn't beat the prices--$2.00 a bottle. I was told the prices on beer were higher on the four nights a week they have a band and dancing--$2.25 a bottle.
The next time I'm in the area, I'm going to be sure to stop in again for one of those delicious burgers.
