LOUISIANA -- I have been a loyal Toyota owner for many years. I presently own 4 Toyotas. I have a 95 Tacoma, 2001 Corolla, 2001 4-runner and now a new 2007 Tundra 5.7L, 4x4, with the off road and towing package.
July 03, 2007 I purchased the 07 Tundra, which has many amenities, outside temp. gauge, the doors automatically lock when you surpass 10 mph, 2 a/c and heat control knobs, the truck can be driven as an automatic or standard and other amenities. I purchased the truck for $35,000.
On the same day as the purchase I needed fuel and I could just not believe that this truck with all these amenities did not have a fuel tank DOOR LOCK or a pull switch located in the cab to release the fuel door or at the least a locked gas cap. I immediately called my dealership and asked to order a locked gas cap. I was told that Toyota does not make a locked gas cap but I could purchase an after market cap but a light will come on - on dash. I would believe that this is pretty much standard on any vehicle now days. On my 2001 Corolla I purchased new for $15,000 even has this and other vehicles I have owned since 1988.
You can bet in the future when I purchase a vehicle I don't care how much Bells and whistles it has I will check for at least a lock on gas tank door.
