AirTran Airways Complaint - Airtran messed up ticket and it cost me $360
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- I had purchased a round trip ticket for myself and redeemed two frequent flyer vouchers for a round trip ticket for my husband. Our outbound trip was uneventful, however our return trip was a nightmare. When we arrived at the airport, we were told that a reservation for my husband had never been made, and the ticket would cost $360. This was a one-way ticket from FL to Atlanta, normally about a $70 fare. I tried to talk with the Rewards Center and was told that I was sent a confirmation email listing only a one way flight- so too bad. After returning home, I again phoned to talk with a supervisor and basically told the same thing. I fly almost weekly and receive a barrage of confirmation emails for hotels, rental cars and air reservations. I do not have time to check other people's work. Airtran could see that I had purchased a round trip ticket for myself, and cashed in 2 rewards vouchers for a roundtrip ticket for my husband. I made these reservations over the phone which is required by Airtran when using reward tickets. It is so obvious that the agent making the reservation for me on the phone made the error, however I was told that it was my fault for not checking the email more carefully and they would not refund my $360. I am a Delta medallion member and will continue to reward Delta with my business as they treat their customers with fairness and respect.
