Thomson/RCA Complaint - Product defect and non-existant customer service
Bought an RCA 32" television with an extended warranty. TV lost picture and sound in 8 months. Still under mfg. warranty. To date Thomson/RCA service center could not repair TV so Thomson replaced with another defective TV. Thomson replaced the defective TV with yet another defective TV. Obviously the entire line was defective so I requested my money back. Filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Thomson responded with untruthful replies. Said issue was resolved to the customers satisfaction. I sent a rebuttal stating that I still did not have a television that worked. Thomson sent another letter to the BBB stating that they were refunding my money. The issue began in January 2007 and I still have no TV or no refund, seven months later. They have lied to me and to the Better Business Bureau. I have made over 100 phone calls trying to resolve this and just get a run-around from Thomson. At the end of May Thomson told me I would receive a refund and I have not heard from them since. No TV - no refund to date. After checking up on the company, it appears that this is normal business practice for them. They produce a piece of junk and then keep stringing you along until you give up and cut your loss. There are thousands of people across the US that have had the same problem. One guy has been trying to get resolution for over 2 years. I am filing a complaint with Attorney generals in 3 states, maybe then I will get my money back. Do not buy RCA, GE or Thomson products. Their service is non-existant and their products are defective, this includes DVD players, TV's, phones, and MP3 players.
The company does not stand by their products.
