Sears Informative - Maytag Washer
As many have previously posted on My3cents.com, Sears is NOT the company it was for over 100 years - a company that stood behind its products. My story is about our $1200 Maytag Neptune washer that failed. This is the same washer that was the subject of a class-action lawsuit (2004) that found against Maytag & Sears. Our Maytag had exactly the same issues as those outlined in the lawsuit (Mink vs. Maytag Corp, Civil Action #03L47, 20th Judicial Court for the State of Illinois) but Sears was unwilling to repair or replace our washer because "the Settlement Agreement with the Court ended". Effectively Sears said we don't care about customers, only profits and unless/until a lawsuit forces Sears to act they will stonewall everyone.
PS - the Kenmore line was once a very reliable washer manufactured to Sears high quality expectations. Today Kenmore is manufactured by Whirlpool. Whirlpool owns and manufactures Amana, Jenn-Air, Kitchen Aid, Maytag to the lowest standards possible to maximize profit margins (check ou Whirlpool's illegal off-shore banking practices).
Ever since Ed Lampert leveraged his ESL hedge fund takeover of bankrupt Kmart to acquire Sears, Roebuck & Co., Sears products have gone to hell. In fact today (7/10/07) Sears Holdings announced that FY'07 2Q earnings were half of projections because "home appliances declined to a higher degree" than most other categories. The unethical and illegal acts of Ed Lampert, Aylwin Lewis and the Sears Holdings management can ONLY be countered by honest consumers aggrieved by Sears actions agreeing to NEVER purchase another Sears or Kmart product as long as these people are in charge.
Please, do NOT purchase from Sears or Kmart. It is the ONLY way to change this situation.
