Susan S. Johnston, Interior Designer Complaint - Sloppy Merchandise Delivered
BELLEVUE, WASHINGTON -- I purchased a custom designed shower curtain and bed set for my home back in 4/2000. I paid approximately $4,500 for the custom made items.
The shower curtain, which was made for the guest bathroom, was not made according to the original specifications and illustrations. This was the second time that this curtain had to be remade. In addition, the quality of workmanship was not acceptable.
The master bedroom duvet cover was not made according to the original specifications. The zipper was put on the top (front) side of the duvet cover, not the bottom (back) side. In addition, I had to have a zipper reattached on one pillow sham. Two other pillow sham zippers were hand stitched and will require re-sewn. Also, the fringe on one throw pillow as put on backwards. Further, the lace dust ruffle was made too long and should have had a liner attached to the back as you can see right through the lace. Again, the quality of workmanship on all of these items is questionable.
It's very unlikely that I will ever use your company again, and I doubt seriously that I'll be recommending you to other people.
Here's what I think you should do: I asked that the items be re-sewn, however, at this point I have little confidence that Susan S. Johnston can communicate my requests to the sewing room properly or that the sewing room can execute the request professionally. I am requesting that she refund to me the cost of correcting or remaking the items, including material costs. Again, I have paid a substantial amount of money for these items, over $4,500, and I expect a certain level of quality and workmanship.
