Toysrus Complaint - Return Policy

Review by Toysrusstinks on 2007-07-15
WISCONSIN -- My mother-in-law bought 2 Razor Scooters for my boys. When she gave them to us we didn't notice they were the wrong size. A week later we looked at the boxes and found that they were both to small. I called my mother-in-law and asked for the receipt and she could not find it.

I called Toysrus and the told me I could not return/exchange or even get a credit without a receipt. I told her they were purchased 2 weeks ago and she said to bad, they have a very strict policy.

I no longer shop at Target because of their return policy and now I no longer shop and Toysrus. I spent $2,000 at Christmas last year there and now I will never shop there again, all because the wouldn't even give me a store credit for items that were just purchased, in the boxes and never opened! Good job Toysrus.
It is no wonder Walmart is doing so well.

Check out the return policy of Toysrus before you purchase. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All stores have tightened up their return/exchange policies. If a receipt is required then you need the receipt. Fraudulent returns cost them billions and with smaller margins these days can't blame them for getting tougher.

I love Toys R Us.

Big deal, you spend $2000.00 there at Christmas. Who doesn't these days. I just don't understand what is so hard about not losing a receipt? Especially for items that are gifts.

Donate the scooters to charity.

Razr scooters that are too small?? Every one I have seen was the same size. They usually have a friction adjustment that you turn a collar to loosen, then pull the inside shaft out to the length you want, then tighten it. Try taking a look and seeing if that isn't the case.

The sad thing is that Toys R Us is forced to have a tight return policy because people rip them off, I'd venture to say even more frequently than stores like Target. I've seen adults actually using their children in an active and conscious way to steal merchandise or cash from stores. It's sick, but it's real. To the OP, it's unfortunate that it has to be this way, but it does. Would you prefer for Toys R Us to have an open return policy and go out of business?

Think about how you would run your business if it was you.

And btw, Wal-Mart is not doing so well and 95% of their merchandise is cr@p.

No receipt, no return. That's just the way it is.

How come no one ever figures out that all you have to do is go in and buy twop of the right size, and now you have a receipt! Use it to get your money back on the two that are the wrong size. Problem solved.

Ken, that is the best idea on here!

Hi Skye, what did you say?

Different sizes may have different UPC codes. If they do, that wouldn't work.

Ah, Brenda! You throw a wrench in the works.. LOL!
But your right, good point!

LOL! Sorry, just don't want her to get stuck with 4 scooters!

I wish I had a hundred dollars for every person that says, "I'm never gonna go there anymore".

Kid, I'd settle for a dollar. I'd still be wealthy and probably never have to work another day in my life.

I love when people say, "but I only bought it two weeks ago!" As if that helps the store determine that you are telling the truth.

Well if you aren't going to shop Target or ToysRus, what is left? KMart? Yuck.

I work at TRU to pay for my college. I know what it is like to hear customers yell and hollar at me about our return policies. I get payed 7 dollars and some odd cents for this. Most stores have the same policy, no receipt no return that is why our store automatically gives out gift receipts even if you don't request them. your mother-in-law had two receipts that she lost. it is not our fault, but hers. life is not fair deal with it. It gets old when people complain about this stuff. not only is our return policy you must have a receipt, but it must be with in 90days. A receipt verifies that, plus we must scan in the receipt or we cannot or our system doesn't go through with the transaction. If you really wanted to return your scooters have your mother-in-law go in the store and have them look up her transaction if not, stop complaining, no one cares how much money you spend at TRU cause it doesn't make your situation any better.
