Computer Associates Complaint - Doesn't work-both the product and the company

I used Computer Associates internet security software for several years and it worked fine. Until I "upgraded" to the 2007 edition. It blocked my email client. Computer Associates (CA) doesn't offer telephone support, even for installation issues. The help is through a web chat. After SIX webchats, it was obvious that the problem was not going to be solved and since there was no other method of support, I went and purchased a competing product and it worked perfectly out of the box.

To add insult to injury, the product was purchased with a $20 rebate that said "Allow 3-4 weeks from postmark..." Since I have had trouble with rebates in the past, I sent it USPS Priority and they confirmed that they received it on March 23, 2007. It is now July 16, 2007 and still no rebate. I have emailed them eight times starting at the end of April and have been assured by return email that the rebate is being processed. RIGHT!

I purchased Computer Associates 2006 Suite and installed it and it worked perfectly. About a year later, I got a notice to upgrade my software. Since it worked so well for almost a year I decided to upgrade to the 2007 software suite. I spent hours downloading and installing it. My computer would not work on the internet. After several hours working with the software problem, I finally got it uninstalled and reinstalled the old software. My computer worked fine on the internet. Later on that month I got another notice to renew my subscription to keep using the software. I called someone in Egypt and had trouble understaing them but finally got my order in and got authorization to download the software and the Keys to install it. The same thing happened again. My computer would not work on the internet! I finally got the software to uninstall and called them about the problems. They said to do this and do that and I did it all and still the software would not work on the internet. I have installed it and uninstalled it a total of 4 times and still had the same results. I have requested a refund of my money. I did that today so doubt if I ever will see it put back on my credit card. I have not replaced the software with another brand but that will be the next thing I do. Finally, do not install the CA 2007 software in your computer, it will not work. Billey Miller
