Netspend Complaint - Crooks - Debit Card
PENNSYLVANIA -- My girlfriend and I bought a carpet and paid cash for it. The next day decided it was a bad idea and got a refund. The store did not do cash refunds and offered to refund our debit card (netspend card) which we accepted. After the card was refunded we find that netspend blocked our account because they received a refund for an item that was not purchased with there card. We asked them what we needed to do to lift the block. They told us to fax copies of the sales receipt and refund slip which we did. After we did that they told us that they were not lifting the block that we didn't follow directions. Now before I go any further i would like to add that we had a significant amount of money on this card that had nothing to do with the refund that they included in the block. Anyways we have been fighting with them for over a week now and they are telling me that there is nothing they can do to unblock my account and that it's up to the merchant even though I did everything I was told to do to remove the block. There customer service is ABSOLUTELY horrible. They were very very ignorant on the phone and not helpful.
I turned them into the BBB and talked to an attorney (yes what they are doing is not legal).
