ALLTEL Informative - Stuck with terrible service
DEL NORTE, COLORADO -- Eleven months ago we signed a two year contract with Alltel. We chose Alltel because they had a terrific family plan and we needed three lines. Moreover, their website and local office stated there was service in our area. So we dropped our land line and went with just the cell phones. A month later service began to degrade. After multiple calls, emails and trips to the local Alltel store to remedy the situation, Alltel admitted that service in our area is poor and there was nothing they could do. The technician stated that Alltel would likely release us from the contract. He then passed us on to the person from the "Retention Department" who stated that it was against Alltel's policy to do such things. She stated that they are not responsible for their service and, after the first fifteen days, any service issues are the customer's problem. Since nothing could be done, she suggested that we try to find someone to buy the rest of our contract.
Based on our experience, I would not wish this experience on anyone else and would advise folks against going with Alltel, especially in rural areas.
