Midas Informative - Brakes = Outrageous
I was away on business and my girlfriend too her 2004 Saturn to Midas because her brakes were "sqeaking". They replaced the pads and rotors for $462. We are considering a backcharge with Mastercard. The price for pads and rotors for that car are $120 for lifetime warranty. They charged $280 for "their" parts. Labor at $72 per hour was 2 hours. I can do the job with a bottle jack, hammer, screwdriver, tire iron and a clamp in about an hour and a half in the driveway.
Stay clear of these big chains. Buy the parts yourself and have your local mechanic do the work. He'll know a lot more than the 19yr. old making $11 an hour while the company bills him out at $72. May even get the job done in the 45 minutes it should take with a shop setup with proper tools.
