DF Richard Company Informative - Furnace installation

Review by pscaglione56 on 2007-07-20
DOVER, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- DF Richard subcontracted with Martel Plumbing to remove my old furnace and install a new furnace at a cost of almost $5100. After the installation of the new furnace we have had many problems including the house smelling of oil, zones put in backwards, a bad nozzle, but the biggest problem is our house after the new furnace was installed was freezing. No matter how many times I complained they did not fix the problem. They told me I no longer had the residual heat of my old furnace so I should install a zone in my basement as heat rises. I paid for the parts $460 while they threw in the labor for free. This did not fix the problem. We do not use that zone at all so that money is wasted. They moved one of my thermostats to the wall beside my front door. This did not help with regulating the heat either. I contacted another heating company who did some work on the system to the cost of $400. I hope this fixes the problem but have to wait for the cold weather to know for sure. I am still very unhappy with the service I received from DF Richard and do not recommend them to anyone.

Look in the contract to see what remedies are provided. If they have failed to live up to the remedies then take them to court for damages. Looks like they sold you a furnace that can't do the job.

Thanks. They took me to court for payment and the judge sided with them believe it or not. The judge said I couldn't prove that their swapping of furnaces caused the problem. I should have taken them to court but unfortunately I encountered numerous health issues around the same time.
