Lost Luggage - Heathrow Informative - Luggage problems at Heathrow

Review by 32031 on 2007-07-22
There have been a large number of complaints about lost or delayed luggage from travelers who have used Heathrow Airport as the destination, departure point or transfer to other flights. According to a recent news article Heathrow has been experiencing a huge number of 'lost' and delayed luggage over the past few months. The problem is attributed to the aging handling system causing luggage to be misdirected or piling up behind broken conveyor belts. The airport is beginning to ship the huge backlog to Milan for sorting and forwarding to the passengers. But it's expected to take some time for this to happen. A new processing system is in the works but it won't be fully operational until next March. So it isn't the airline losing your stuff it's the airport facility. Therefore calling the airline will not help because they helpless to resolve the situation.
