Gustav's German Pub Compliment - French Dip And Crab Fondue
VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON -- July 18, 2007. Gustav's German Pub & Grill, 1705 SE 164th Ave, Vancouver, Washington 98683. This restaurant looks as good as the food tastes. The outside and inside is designed after a German alpine lodge. You are promptly greeted when you enter the front door. The ceiling is high with open beams done in a beautiful wood giving the whole place a warm feel. The fireplace in the main dining room adds to the ambiance. My favorite room is the Black Forest room with it's beautifully carved booths and collection of Cuckoo clocks around the room above the booths. I have eaten at this restaurant many times and have only had excellent food and service. This time we started off with their excellent Dungeness Crab and Roasted Red Pepper Fondue. Dipping your bread into this fondue turns into a feeding frenzy. This fondue is to die for. Lots of crab and red peppers done to perfection. On this trip I ordered a sandwich for the first time. My Prime Rib French Dip with fries was plentiful and the meat was tender and of excellent flavor. The au jus was not your run of the mill thin drippings, but instead was more gravy like and perfect for dipping. The roll the meat was on was fresh and delicious and the dill spear and German potato salad were also excellent. Cost was $10.99. The other dinner ordered was the Bratwurst with German potato salad, sauerkraut, and red cabbage which was excellent. Cost $9.25 The Crab Fondue was $12.25 and worth every penny.
Great food, service and prices. Previously ordered dinners that I recommend are Prime Rib, Shepherds Pie, Cordon Bleu Pork Chop. I highly recommend the food at this restaurant.
