DirecTV Inc Informative - Will never do business with DirecTV again!
The wife and I moved in May 07 and tried to transfer our service only to find out that we couldn't get signal in our new home. We had a technician and his supervisor come out to verify. We were forced to switch to cable and had to cancel our DirecTV service. A couple of weeks later I realized that they were still taking their monthly fees out of my checking account. I called and was told that I never cancelled my service? I told them that I let the techs that came out (one was a supervisor) know that I was cancelling because of having no signal. The person on the phone told me that I have to call to cancel??? What??? Why didn't anyone tell me that before??? I told the person on the phone to cancel my service immediately because I couldn't get signal, as it already said in my file. They said they would pro-rate me back to the beginning of June and credit my account the few dollars difference. On June 20th my bank account was hit for $287 from DirecTV. I was really upset at this point and called to complain. I was told that it was an early cancellation fee! I disputed this and was told that it was a mistake and would be credited back to my account within 7 days. 7 days went by and I still didn't have any money back so I called again and was told that the dispute was submitted to the wrong department but it would be taken care of and I would see a credit within 3 business days. Guess what, still no credit back. It is now the end of July and I have called numerous times, written emails, and posted many blogs. I am now being told that I will receive a check within 6-8 weeks. I don't expect to ever see that money again. How can this company continue to get away with this? They are crooks and should be shut down. The only reason I ever did business with them was for the NFL package but no sport is worth this. They will never get another penney from me.
