PARIS, TEXAS -- I paid what I consider a LOT of money for a TV I planned should last for 10 years. I even bought the extended warranty. 5 months into the life of the TV, the ambilight feature started malfunctioning. I called Philips to have it repaired. After two months of them messing around, Philips finally figured out that they don't have the part my TV needs and apparently will never have it. They generously offered to replace my 9731D with a 9631D. That is such an insult to my intelligence! The 9631D cost approximately $1000 less at the time I made my purchase and lacks key features for which I specifically paid extra money. Needless to say, I refused their offer. Now I'm waiting for Philips to "get a 9731D in stock." I'm curious... how will that ever happen since they don't manufacture the 9731D anymore? It appears it had a really short production life - about 9 months. Sounds a lot like quality issues to me. Anyway... I've got no TV, I'm paying for HD service, and I'm out $3500 with no solution in sight.
I'll NEVER buy another Philips product and neither should you.
