Guardsman Protection Plan Complaint - Horrible Protection Plan

Review by chris c on 2007-07-29
CHINO HILLS, CALIFORNIA -- Recently bought 5 piece living room leather set from Levitz. Was encouraged to buy the 5 yr Guardsman leather protection plan for $500.00. At the time it sounded just perfect. Will repair any rip, pet stain, or tear or replace item. 1 day after owning the ottoman,a scratch came about and I simply called the phone # provided. Filled out the proper forms only to find out 2 days later "scratches" aren't covered, only rips. This is probably the stupidest thing I've ever heard as a consumer.

Perfect example of getting less than what you pay for.

While a scratch may "bother" you, it's only cosmetic. A rip or a tear could possibly affect the "performance" of your furniture.

Did your warranty say it covers scratches? Warranties are usually very specific, it's still annoying that when you find out that you weren't covered for a specific thing though.

Extended warranties and other so-called "protection plans" are almost always loaded with fine print and loopholes, and very seldom do you actually get what you pay for. They are a big rip-off and a huge profit maker for the companies, which is why they push them so hard in the first place.
