Bergen Tire Care Complaint - Tire Repair Scam - Tire Sales And Automotive Repairs

Review by blazer52 on 2007-07-29
CARLSTADT, NEW JERSEY -- I recently brought a tire from my 6 month old suv with around 6,000 miles on it to Bergen Tire Care to have a small nail removed and the flat tire fixed. They plugged the tire but two days later I noticed the tire was low again. I filled it and returned back to them. I was then told that the tire could not be fixed and I would require a new tire at $180 plus installation and balancing. I declined the tire and priced the tire elsewhere at between $120 and $140 installed and mounted. I purchased the tire elsewhere. After returning to work two other employees told me that they had a similar experience with bergen car care. Both had relatively new cars/tires and both were told that their tire could not be fixed. Both were overcharged for the replacement tire. I was told the reason that the tire could not be repaired was that the puncture was too large. The puncture was caused by a small nail which could have not caused a puncture hole too large to repair. The person repairing the puncture made it too large.

This is one place that people should stay away from for their tire or repair needs.

Tires with this type of puncture and little wear should be removed from the rim and patched on the inside. The place where I buy tires offer this service for 10.00, if I bought the tire from them, it is free.
