Air Travel In General Informative - Worst Month For Air Travel

Review by 32031 on 2007-08-07
According to an article in THE WASHINGTON POST, this past June was the worst for air travel in the last 12 years. More delays (bad weather & mechanical problems), fewer available crews, more lost luggage and more people traveling. Less available aircraft, less staffing at the gates, baggage handlers. In a few past postings I have mentioned AMTRAK as an alternative but they are plagued with long delays on many long distance trains. Remember the old adage 'Getting there is half the fun'?

Not fun anymore having to wait in long security lines, unruly desk agents, poor customer service and lack of coordination/communication by the airlines.

Just read an article that said Northwest continues to cancel flights because their pilot pool is shrinking. So why do they offer flights just to cancel?

Flying ranks right up there with going to the dentist (before the advent of modern pain killers) . When I must fly I check out with a handful of xanax and leave my expectations at the door. Good post PassingBy. I voted it 'very helpful'.

I find the airlines are sub par but the airports have become the real nightmare. When you pull up to the curb and see the security line out the door you know it's going to be a long day. Good review, Very Helpful post.

What is scary is how so many people have complaints about lost luggage. I thought all the luggage on the plane had to match a passenger on the flight. Isn't it something to do with homeland security.
