Chase Manhattan Bank Complaint - Mysterious block on my banking account
JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY -- In July, my banking account mysteriously had a negative balance of a totally random amount. Chase tried to blame it on a hold on a direct deposit on a specific day, but even then, the account had enough funds to pay off the various checks and very important automated payments that drew from the account.
Because of this, various check and bills were either blocked or returned and I received multiple 'insufficient funds' letters from Chase. I asked them to fix the problem, which took two calls and long hold times that took up to 30 minutes each. After that was fixed, I asked for an investigation, in addition to asking Chase to fix the issues other people and organizations encountered when trying to cash checks or draw funds -- that's a whole other story as various call center personnel didn't give me good information and I had to fix it myself.
Chase's investigation said that the hold was due to another completely different account being put on hold (an account that had nothing to do with me). It was totally random and had nothing to do with me.
After that, Chase just leaves it off with no more proactive contact with me so I have to keep calling them to ask if there will be compensation for my troubles and inconvenience. I guess they just brush it off and hope that I go away but that I keep my banking with them.
