Wal-Mart Complaint - Handicapped Access and Cordial Treatment
NASHVILLE & ANTIOCH, TENNESSEE -- I had, heart surgery on Friday, July 27, 2007 and my sister had many with the last a shock to re start her heart. We both have handicapped stickers with letters from our cardiologists to not walk much and to keep quiet. Well we do need to shop, so my sister has used the carts in other stores many times, however I hadn't. The first time it was great and we were able to shop, however as we left we were told to leave the carts inside and carry our groceries to the car on our own. ??? We can't and it was also 100 degrees outside. The lady said it was a liability on walmart to take the cart out. the nice young man near us followed us out drove the carts in and carried our groceries.
Today there was only 1 cart - unplugged and not working. We asked if they had any others and they said no they were stolen and being fixed. We asked if they could look and the girl brought my sister a regular cart and when I asked she said you look to strong for me to get YOU a cart. This is absolutely against the law - discrimination against handicapped. You May not think someone looks ok, but we have very dangerous heart conditions and most people wouldn't know that in looking. I don't want to pass out from a heart attack because someone doesn't follow federal laws to take care of everyone who has a right to have the same opportunities. And to the little girl who was so rude in prior message - pray you never have to be hit out of no where with this disease. It has made sports figures drop dead. Please let remember people aren't always taking advantage of others.
Just want to feel as normal as we can. Thank you
