Northwest Airlines Informative - I was removed from NW3741
SCRANTON, PENNSYLVANIA -- On Thursday, August 9, I was scheduled out of Scranton to Detroit on NW3741. I am a frequent flier and basically fly every week. I have flown the same itenerary for over 1 year now.
The Scranton Airport is repaving their main runway and there are weight restrictions on flights because of the shorter runway being the only one available. Northwest has known this was coming for over one month.
Of course, they overbooked the weight restriction on this flight and then asked for volunteers. When insufficient volunteers were found, they just came on board and called out names and told us to get off. There were 3 of us pulled off with no option. I know myself and another gentlemen that was told to get off were platinum fliers and have flown with NWA every week for the last 18 months.
I could not believe they picked their best customers to make them leave the plane. We were offered a free round trip ticket, but no compensation. The ground staff in Scranton is pitiful, but they work for several airlines there and this is just a function of airlines being cheap.
I immediately cancelled my next weeks flight ($1,200) and booked on another airline. I will never fly Northwest again.
