Motel 6 Informative - Cockroaches in 3 Different Rooms
OXFORD, ALABAMA -- I am currently staying at Motel 6 in Oxford, AL while visiting my aunt that was just diagnosed with cancer. The night I checked in Room 242 there were several cockroaches crawling around on the sink. They very happily allowed me to switch to room 246. Two days later, a few cockroaches were spotted crawling around on the walls at night and I requested another room change. The night worker, Luke denied my request and said his manager Nova would not allow it since I already changed rooms previously and all they had open was a handicapped room. I asked to take the room, he allowed me to go to that room and check it out first and then when I returned to the office he told me he talked to his manager, Nova and she said I am not allowed to change rooms and she didn't believe there were cockroaches in the room I was currently in. I asked to check out of the hotel and be refunded for the remaining 2 nights I had already paid for. I was also denied a refund.
I returned to Room 246 that night and woke up to a cockroach capsule on my clothes the next morning. I went to the office with the capsule and a cockroach in a zip lock baggie along with digital photos of the infestation and requested another room. Nova happily switched me to room 212, another cockroach infested room! She refunded me one night stay and gave me a guest certificate for one free night.
I have always stay at this Motel 6 because it is cheap and close to my relatives. I have visited several times in the last 10 years and in the past this location has always been very clean and nicely kept up. It has gone down tremendously in the last couple of years.
Now I worry I will take the cockroach’s home with me when I leave tomorrow and will have to invest in exterminator services. I should have just left the first night.
