Best Used Tires Complaint - Buying used tires (Beware)

Review by unhappyjc on 2007-08-13
ALLENTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA -- Bought a set of "like new" used tires from Best Used Tires on the web. As soon as I had them installed I had problems. In eight months, three of the four "like new" tires had tread separation problems and so I had to replace them all. Buyer beware as you will have no recourse whatsoever on getting them replaced or a credit issued by the company as they don't have any warranty outside of a 14 day window. Also if you do have problems in that window, you will need to ship them back at your cost including the cost of having the tire removed. Also, the manufacturer will not do anything for you as well as you are not the original purchaser of the tires. All I got was a "Sorry can't help you" and "Maybe the tire shop installed them incorrectly?" from both places. This sorry cost me $300 for a set of no good tires and $400 to replace them with a set of good tires. This doesn't include the aggravation of the experience not to mention the safety risk to me and my family! So called bargain.

You don't know where these tires have been or if they are damaged which will cause problems down the road. Do yourself a favor and buy your tires from a local tire dealer which will offer you a real warranty and road hazard coverage on a set of new tires. If you have any problems later, you will have a recourse with them.

I can not believe that you bought used tires to save only a 100.00. You indeed put your family's life in danger. And for what? To save $100.00. As you said you did not get your money's worth. Sometimes you have to use some sense when it comes to saving money. Cheaper is not always the cheapest.

Never ever buy a used tire except maybe to get you home!

I once had a car I could not keep tires on, used was the only way to go...the local tire place kept a supply of my size in stock. The car tended to dog-track going down the road from being in a rear end collison before I got it. Seems like every two weeks I had to get two tires for the rear.

You said it yourself: 'You don't know where these tires have been or if they are damaged which will cause problems down the road.' And all this aggravation to save what--a hundred bucks?
