Comcast Corporation Informative - Comcast Holds Customers Hostage
MANASSAS, VIRGINIA -- Let me start by saying that this is my third article about Comcast Communications and the horrendous service they have been providing others and myself in Manassas, Virginia. Today I tried running my business, which relies heavily on the internet, and I simply can't. The signal strength from the modem is too weak, and it takes nearly two minutes to load a single web page. The internet has been out for half of the day in the area. Last week, both Comcast TV and internet were out for over a day and a half. I had to go to the local library to get my work done. Yet I am paying over $100 a month for high-speed Comcast service that I simply don't have.
The proposed upgrades to the service in Manassas have been slow and unsuccessful. Constant outages, unfulfilled promises, and relentless phone calls to their customer service department from dissatisfied users have resulted in not an ounce of better service. I have talked to people all over the city, and no one had a good Comcast story. Absolutely no one. While driving to the Post Office last week, I happened to catch a local businessman with the above signs outside of his business ("Comcast Doesn't Care", and "No Internet for 30 Days". I just had to stop and share with him our more than growing disappointment.
Two months ago I sent a letter to the CEO of the company at their Pennsylvania headquarters detailing our problems here. We never heard back from him. Meanwhile their customer support center continues to tell people to turn their computers and modems off and on, even though they know that the problem is at their connecting hubs. When an entire building or street is down, it's pretty obvious it has nothing to do with our modems.
So this is my last open letter to Comcast to get it right. Verizon FIOS is creeping up your ass now, and I can personally tell you that I will be on a mission to get every resident to switch to them if you can not come through for us. It's an outrage that I even have to take time out to write these articles.
Oh, one more note: you might want to appease this documentary filmmaker. We just love to find creative ways to get our point across to a worldwide audience.
