Sahara Complaint - Bad and dishonest car rental sevice

KAUAI, HAWAII -- Don't rent from Alamo on Kaua'i. It will be a big mistake.

I made reservations 3 months in advance to my trip. Upon arrival, I waited 45 minutes just to check in. I was shuttled to the lot to pick up the vehicle only to find the lot empty - no cars available. After waiting another 45 minutes a care was produced. The outside of the car had been hosed off, not cleaned. The inside was filthy.

We had a mishap at the beach where the keys were lost. Upon calling the Alamo office for a duplicate, we were told none was available. A locksmith was called and after 6 hours of waiting at the disabled car and a $260 fee to the locksmith, he produced a new key.

Upon returning the car at the end of the week, we were charged another $100 at check-in for a lost key fee. I later found that the Alamo office had a duplicate key but it was not made available to me because I opted out of the road-side assistance and lost key insurance. All in all the lost key adventure cost me an additional $360 and 6 hours of wasted vacation time. The rental for the week only cost $212. I feel I was taken advantage of and blackmailed into paying more than I should have. I will never use Alamo again.

If you had a new key made, why did they charge you for a lost key?

I had a similar bad experience with them and will never use Alamo again. They should be investigated for deceptive business practices. They prey on tourists, that states life blood. Shame on them.
