American Airlines Complaint - Cancelled flight - Don't expect compensation
LA, CALIFORNIA -- I booked an LAX-JFK flight for 9:30pm Sun. Aug. 12th. The flight was cancelled an hour after departure time due to "mechanical difficulties" which were never fully explained. It was rescheduled for 7ma the following morning.
I had purposefully booked a red eye flight so I would not lose a work day. Instead I spent Monday flying home without internet access (e.g., work). When I wrote politely to American Airlines asking them for double mileage credit for the trip, I was told that they would not compensate me for losing "personal time."
I had not asked for monetary compensation for the work I was not able to have covered; just frequent flier miles. Don't expect anything except for a hotel voucher if your overnight flight is cancelled and a half-hearted apology. American isn't going to do anything that ACTUALLY 'costs' them anything to make it up to you.
