Northwest Airlines Informative - Customer Ticketing and Seating
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA -- In an otherwise futile attempt to raise additional corporate revenue, NWA has implemented a serious effort to restrict advanced seating assignments. Thus, despite how many miles you may have flown in the past with the company, you are now in a free fall until the "ever customer friendly" Gate Agent grants you a Boarding Pass minutes before take-off...If you wish to ensure an exact seat assignment in advance, then be prepared to fork over a Premium on top of the actual ticket price--what a concept?!
Can you imagine purchasing a ticket at top buck pricing to a sporting event or theater presentation and not knowing where you will actually sit until minutes before the first pitch or the curtain lifting? And to top it off, there's a chance you'll have paid more for an inferior seat than someone who arrives at the last minute and buys a walk-up...How ridiculous...What makes it even harder is the fact that no one in management cares. In fact they hide behind poor rank and file employees who are trained to utilize a "passive aggressive" posture...Perhaps it is time for Minnesotans to push for Southwest or others to enter the market and introduce a different culture...It is what we deserve.
