National Car Rental Informative - National Car Rental Shannon Ireland
I arranged my car rental through AUTOEurope and got the best quote from National so I took the reservation and paid. When I arrived at Shannon Airport in Ireland they said we have no cars but told me that Hertz would honor the same rate. That was not true. Yes Hertz had a car but they did not honor the rate. It took 3 months after my vacation to get a partial refund through my credit card company. When I brought this to the attention of National/Alamo they said my problem was not with them. They took no responsibity at all for not having a car available despite the fact that I made a reservation. They took no responsibility for sending me to Hertz with a business card from the lady at National noting that she was sending me and they should take care of me. Last but not least they never even considered to apologize. I did write to customer service at National but they replied that my problem was with Hertz. They do not recognize they caused the problem. Being a global company I would have expected them to say that they are sorry for your trouble and give a discount voucher against the next rental. Customer Service is not their motto nor is customer satisfaction. The moral of the story reservations mean nothing at National / Alamo car rental.
