ALTAVISTA, VIRGINIA -- On August 17, 2007, I checked into the Comfort Inn in Altavista, Virginia for what was suppose to have been a two night stay. When we entered the room we noticed that the bathroom was especially dirty. Since we were only staying for two nights, I decided not to complain and instead cleaned the bathroom myself with Lysol. When my roomm mate woke up the next morning she noticed a bug crawling on her bed sheet. She then pulled the sheets off the bed and found the entire mattress infested with bedbugs (chinches). I examined my bed and also found farms of bedbugs breeding and laying eggs. When we went to the front desk to complain to the manager and check out, we found that other guests had already complained about the filth and bedbugs. The manager was very apologetic and offered to move us to a different room but we declined and checked out instead. After this experience, I will never again stay at any Comfort Inn or Suites and I will make it a point to check the beds at other hotels for bedbug infestation before sleeping in them. We had to dispose of everything that we brought into that room, all of our clothing and the luggage we carried them in. This was the most horrible experience!
It will probably be a very long time before I stay in a hotel/motel again.
