J and J Auto Sales Complaint - Blown Engine in truck after one week!

Review by RevRon on 2007-08-21
FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA -- N July of 2006 I bought a used truck for $4500 from J and J Auto Sales to use to be able to go to college. I am disabled and am trying to be re-trained so that I can go back to work. This truck's engine blew up after one week. J and J lies and tries to say it was my fault. They have done this to numerous customers. You can read my entire story at www.jjcrooks.com I am so glad I found this website.

Now, everyone out there will know how much of a crook this guy is. He's even been in trouble and fined by the IRS more than once!

You bought a 11 year old car and waived the warranty. What do you expect?

Did you have the truck checked out by YOUR mechanic before purchasing it?

If you knew about the history of J&J, why did you buy from him? Check w/ your atty. general. He may be able to get this sale cancelled/refunded.

I felt kind of uncomfortable reading your web page where you quote others by name. Did they say it was okay to disclose that information?

If you bought it as-is...you bought it as-is. You assumed all responsibility. I do not understand why consumers continue to push the envelope on the definition of as-is. Yes, your situation is unfortunate...but it is an eleven year old vehicle that you bought for $4500...and by the way, the attorney general will not be of any help...

Why are you just now complaining - a year after the purchase. I take back my prior comment.

All names were used with permission with this story. I know it was bought "as is". The moral of this story is, this guy has been doing this to other people as well as me. Even people who work for our local law enforcement. It took a year to post this on this site because I just found it today.I didn't know about J and J's history until "after" the engine was blown. No, I didn't have the truck checked by my own mechanic. I know, I should have. And Thanks JayD for having so much compassion for a disabled person and telling me to get off the street. All I was doing was trying to find a vehicle that I could use to go to college with so I don't have to be a burden on society anymore and to be able to go back to work. I hope this answers everyone's questions.

Ask any good member on my3cents, I take the consumer's side on every issue. Except this one - you are SOL. You should have opted for the warranty or atleast complained within a reasonable timeframe. You can't sue because if you purchase a car in as is condition you void your rights under the lemon law.

I assume next time you will be more careful.
