Meridian Motorwerks Informative - Avoid Meridian Motorwerks, MN
CORCORAN, MINNESOTA -- I called to set up an appointment to examine and test drive a 2004 Honda Odyssey on Aug. 06, 2007. A company representative said 6:00 PM would not be an issue and that they close at 7:00 PM. I arrived promptly at 6:00 PM after an hour-long drive. I met with Bob who took me to the vehicle, but indicated that he needed to leave in 25 minutes to deliver a car. Bob was the only one on staff at the time. I indicated that I needed more than 25 minutes. He asked how long I needed, to which I responded about 45 minutes to one hour. I said he should have contacted me to reschedule (I had been in contact with Bob over the prior days via e-mail) and I had called earlier that same day to set up the appointment. He said that he had other customers to consider than just me. I responded that I understood that, but he should have contacted me to let me know about his conflict. He indicated that he did not know that I would need one hour to examine the vehicle. I replied that I cannot evaluate a vehicle in 25 minutes, which would have to include an inspection and a test drive.
I decided that I would at least look over the vehicle, and I conceded that I would probably need to set up another time for a test drive. With the understanding that he needed to leave soon, I said that I didn’t want to talk about the issue anymore. I proceeded to examine the interior of the vehicle and he said that I was getting “smart” with him since I asked what time the business closed (he confirmed 7:00 PM). I was irritated about the matter and his conduct, since I had an appointment at 6:00 PM, had driven one-hour to the establishment, and I was not accommodated for my desire to examine the vehicle to my satisfaction. Bob continued by saying that he “didn’t have to sell it to [me]”, that he “[has] the best deals in town”, and that he would rather sell it to someone else. I exited the vehicle and asked if he was serious. He repeated that he didn’t need to sell it to me, and would not sell it me. He then locked the vehicle and went back inside the office.
I spent a significant amount of time researching this vehicle and left work early to meet Bob for the appointment at 6:00 PM. The drive to and from Meridian was about two hours. To rearrange my schedule, drive one-hour to the establishment only to be treated like that is unacceptable.
