Applebee's Complaint - Bad Food

Complaint
Review by DebbieD on 2007-08-26
CRESTVIEW, FLORIDA -- My daughter and I stopped at an Applebee's in CresTView, FL for lunch on our way across country. We thought a familiar brand of restaurant would have good food. We were sadly mistaken. I ordered the Tasty Trios, a recent addition to their menu. The mini hamburgers were featured in the menu as small and juicy and fitting exactly on a mini-bun. When they came out they were flat and dried out. They were crispy like they had been cooked and then reheated. The bun was from a normal size hamburger and dwarfed the hamburger patty. Terrible! The dip that was part of this was barely warm and hard. Terrible taste and texture. The only thing edible was the cheese sticks. I paid $10.99 for basically cheese sticks. I expected so much better. My daughter had a Portabello Chicken Sandwich which was also just barely warm. Mushrooms were overcooked as if they had been standing for a long time. Very bland and not tasty. Her onion soup was also barely warm.

Our bill came to $28.57 and it was a complete waste of money. We will NEVER EAT AT AN APPLEBEE'S AGAIN.

I hope you spoke to the manager of the store or even told the waiter that the food was rather disappointing.

Trumania, that would make way too much sense. Be reasonable.

*throws hands up* I don't know why I try, I suppose I try to give some people the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, did you speak to the manager about this and what did he/she say?

Why do people accept, consume and pay for food that's not prepared properly? And then complain afterwards? Say something politely to the wait staff about the food. If it still doesn't come out right then ask for the manager.

I agree with everyone else so far. If the food isn't good for whatever reason, while you're sitting at your table is the time to politely bring it up to the server and try to resolve the problem. Coming to an Internet message board does nothing but allow you to let off some steam and if that steam is worth $28.57, more power to you.

I also don't understand people who have a bad experience at a chain or franchise restaurant or any other business and then declare they WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!! So for one bad experience you're going to punish everyone else at every other outlet of that company? That's just silly.

I know with some people a first impression always lasts, but there are many, many more Applebee's restaurants over the states and I am sure they're not all the same. Some places just have more lazy cooks/servers who don't give a crap about their job.

There's one very real problem with complaining multiple times to your wait staff: they could, and do, mess with your food. I worked food service for about a year and once one of my co-workers got so frustrated with a customer that he dropped the pizza dough in the trash and picked it up and finished making the pizza. I don't agree with what he did, but I realize he's not the only one doing it. If you send your steak back three times there's a pretty good chance it's going to come back with something more than barbeque sauce.
