TENNESSEE -- I purchased a Dell computer I went to my bank, to get a loan to pay the intire bill off for the computer, the effective date for the loan is 08/02/07 the bank called Dell to get the payoff amount they told them it was $ 2,140.18. They then mailed a cashier check to them for the intire amount on 08/03/07. I got a phone call on 08/03/07 at my home from Dell telling me I needed to make a payment. I then told them that I had been to my bank that day and they should be receiving a check in the mail. They were very rude and said they did not believe me and if I did not give them a payment over the phone it would be turned in to collections. I told them I would not make a payment to wait for the check. On 08/06/07 I received a call at work I told them the same thing again. I got another call that night at home. I told them the same thing. They called again on 08/07/07 I did not answer the phone. I was in a meeting on 08/08/07 the next time they called.
I called them back and told them I would go to the bank later that day and find out the problem. I left work and went to the bank and they were closed at noon on Wednesday. I took time out and called Dell and told them I would go the next day to find out why they had not received the check.They were very rude and said again if was going to collections. I told them to do what they had to do because until I found out what the problem was I was not paying anything.
I went back to the bank on Friday about 4:45 and the bank told me there loan department was closed for the day, and they could not give me a check number. The bank said that it had been mailed and to give it till Thursday of next week and if they still had not received it to come back and they would stop payment. Dell kept calling I tried to give them the number to my bank and who to talk to and they would get mad and hang up or be very rude, and threatening.
On 08/16/07 I went back to the bank and told them that Dell was still calling and they said they still had not received the check. The bank said they would contact the accounting department and find out if the check had been cleared. The bank gave me a call the next morning and said that the check had been cleared it had Dells stamp on it the date was 08/06/07. I told them thank you for there trouble. That night I waited for Dell to call.
They did I told them the info that the bank had told me they once again told me there was no record of the check. The guy on the phone was the most rude yet.I just told the guy he would neeed to call the bank.Again he said no. The following Monday I was in a staff meeting they called me at work I told the secretary to take a message. It was very imbaressing. I then went to my bank once again and asked them what to do because truthfully I did not know what to do they gave me the check number and to see if that would help.
Dell called again that night I gave them the check muber they said they had know record of it. 08/21/07 They called me again at work in front of my boss. This time it was a girl that called. We went back and fourth fimally she put me on hold. She came back a while longer and said they found it.
I asked her if everthing was taken care of? She said yes and the account would be closed. I asked her her name she said dawn I think.The number she called from was 716-809-8150. I asked her 3 times if she was sure the problem was closed she said yes. 08/21/07 I got a call again I told them the problem was taken care of they said they had no record of it. They wanted me to make another payment.
I would not and they hung up. I then called the number that they called me from earlier it took the guy almost 20 minuted he finally said he found record of the check. He said I still owed over 200.00 Dollars in late fees from 08/06/07 it is now in the bbb hands
