Delta Airlines Complaint - Forgotten in a Wheelchair
CINCINNATI, OHIO -- My mother's boyfriend passed away recently and his daughters flew my mother to Las Vegas where he lived. She had been visiting us from Florida, so she flew out of Knoxville Saturday afternoon to Cincinnati, then was supposed to continue on to Las Vegas - or so we thought. She required a wheelchair at the plane, so she was taken to the waiting area of the connecting flight to Las Vegas, where she was dumped and left to sit with no assistance to make that flight. So she missed her flight, so then Delta flew her first class to Atlanta to fly to Las Vegas at 9:30 p.m. When she arrived in Atlanta, she was left on the plane because no one arrived with a wheelchair. The captain called for a wheelchair 3 times, and then became so exasperated that he left the plane to find a wheelchair for her. Flight Attendants told my mother that the wheelchair assistance with Delta is so poor, that she should write a letter of complaint to them. Then her flight from Atlanta to Vegas, which was supposed to leave at 9:30 p.m., was delayed until after 10:30 p.m. because they were waiting on a flight crew to arrive. So her 6-hour trip to Las Vegas to Knoxville on Delta, took more than 12 hours. Just about the same story on the flight from Las Vegas to Sarasota. That flight was delayed 3 hours in Atlanta.
Moral - do not fly Delta if you are elderly and need wheelchair assistance!
