etronics.com Complaint - avoid at all costs, these guys are a pack of liars
NEW YORK -- So I was trying to buy a pair of radios as a gift for a friend - went to etronics, saw the good price, decided to give them a shot. I placed the order.
4 days pass. I checked the order status, and I notice their online status thing has been on "billing" for the whole time, so I call them to find out what was going on. Turns out that since it was a gift purchase, I had different billing and shipping addresses. They require that if you use a different shipping than billing address, you have to add the shipping address to the card. Unfortunately, they neglected to inform me of this, so it wasn't until 4 days later, when I called to ask what the hell was going on, that I found out what the deal was.
So. I figured that was pretty nice of them, looking out for the customer and all. I asked them if they had the items in stock (remember, 4 days had gone by) because it was supposed to be a present and needed to get there on time. They said yes, no problem. So I called my credit card, added the shipping address and called them back and told them.
6 days pass. During that entire time their website says "being processed". I call again, to find out what was going on, and they tell me, "it had to come from a different warehouse, we will be shipping it as soon as it comes in".
3 days pass. I call again. I am told "it will be going out today, call back after 5:00 PM for your tracking number". Later that day, I check the website, and it says "order cancelled". So I call the customer service number.
45 minutes pass - Finally I get someone on the phone. They told me that the order was cancelled because the item was discontinued.
Remember that they have told me 3 times that the items were in stock, which was a flat out lie.
If you like being lied to, go to etronics. Otherwise avoid them like the plague. They are a bunch of liars, the customer service is non-existent, and they are completely inaccessible if you have concerns.
