Ashley Furniture Complaint - Do not purchase furniture here!
SALEM, OREGON -- I wish I would have read reviews before my husband and I purchased a new living room set. We have bought a lot of furniture over the years and have NEVER had any trouble like we have had with this company. We went to Ashley Furniture specifically because they advertised a sale on their living room groups. We purchased a 5 piece living room set (sofa, loveseat, coffee table, 2 end tables) and added an extra recliner and ottoman. We received an additional discount for purchasing with cash, so we spent approx $3000. We were told it would be delivered in 3-6 weeks. After about 5 weeks, I called twice to check because we hadn't heard anything. Every time we called, they transferred us to the sales guy who sold us the furniture. He said it was "coming" and not to worry. After another 10 days, I called back and the sales guy was out so I talked to a girl who worked there. When she looked up our furniture order, she told me the order itself was never actually placed! She was putting in the order and would put a rush on it, but we'd have to wait another few weeks. When the furniture was FINALLY delivered, the coffee table was broken and one of the end tables was completely missing.
They replaced the coffee table a few weeks later, but in looking back at the original order they said that we never even purchased two end tables. But we bought a 5 piece set! That's what we went to the company for, that's what they were advertising for sale, that's what the flier said on each of their living room groups! We should have looked closer at our sales slip though because it said "1 each" of the end table, which I guess means just 1. Our only choices were to either cancel our order and get our money, minus a 30% "restocking fee" of $900, or spend $250 on a new end table. We cut our losses and just bought a new end table, but they said it was in stock in another store and they would put a rush on it so we'd get it in about 5 to 7 days.
I've been waiting a month. The sales guy keeps saying the same thing: "It will be here next Saturday". I just found out that our order for the new end table was somehow cancelled when they re-delivered the broken coffee table. I was told they would have to put in a new order, but again they'd put a rush on it and it would be here in about 2 weeks. I called the manager and complained about everything that has happened to date. He completely agreed that it was unacceptable and said he located another end table and we would have it in 4 days.
It was supposed to be delivered yesterday. It didn't come. When I called to find out what happened, I was conveniently told that the manager "wasn't in". However, I have spoken with them enough by now that I knew the name of the girl in charge of scheduling deliveries and asked for her. She told me that it was there in the store, but no one had scheduled it to be delivered. It has been 4 months since we originally purchased this furniture. We are supposed to have our last end table delivered this Saturday and will FINALLY have our living room complete. We'll see if it happens!
I can't help but think though, we should have bought the set from Wickes that was only $200 more, but could have been delivered in 3 days.
