Champion Toyota Gulf Freeway Houston Complaint - False Advertising For 2008 Corolla

Review by FalseAdvertising on 2007-09-06
HOUSTON, TEXAS -- The Houston Chronicle on 8-17-07 and 8-25-07, has the Corolla CE at a SALES PRICE of $12,988.00 with "15 AT THIS PRICE" my friend arrived at 8:30am before the dealership opened on 8-18-07.

Dealership made an excuse the "AD" vehicle was flooded and the other "15 AT THIS PRICE" were not available and it was an ADVERTISING mistake.

THE EXACT same ad was in the Houston Chronicle the next week, the same STOCK number in the AD was listed as well.

My friend had to take delivery to establish a loss in order to know what amount to recover about $640.00 !

Now my friend is attempting to collect this through "ARBITRATION"

Hold on there. There were at least two 'advertising mistakes' in a row and your friend still bought a car? Was it a pistol, rifle or shotgun they used to force your friend to make a purchase? Or did I miss something between the 4th & 5th sentence?

Yeah, why didn’t he just walk away?

Are we missing something here?

It is classic ““bait and switch” sales tactic to get you into their dealership.

So many other places to go. Never buy from someone that does this once, never mind twice. These people sound like a real piece of work.

Actually I think the friend pulled a gutsy move. Buying the car knowing he didn't get the advertised price but willing to go back and try and force them to honor it. I assume even at $640 more, it wasn't a bad deal, but why should he let it go. That's the kind of bait and switch stuff that'll get a dealer in hot water real fast.

I hope he kept both ads.

Ads usually have a stock number for the vehicle advertised. The dealer claims that vehicle was 'flooded' which to me means it wasn't available. So how could the friend buy it? There's very much something wrong or missing here.
