Underhill's Fine Wood Furniture Complaint - Poor quality table and bad customer service

Review by JeffN on 2007-09-09
KIRKLAND, WASHINGTON -- My wife and I bought a beautiful dining room table that we thought we'd keep in the family for generations. It was gorgeous, it was unusual and it was perfect for us.

Within a year, however, the table started peeling and cracking at the knotholes. When we called the store to see how we could get it repaired, we were told that it was no longer under warranty, so there was nothing they would do about it. The store manager was belligerent and unhelpful.

We now realize that our once-prized table, now a shabby looking piece of furniture, will probably not last more than a couple years more.

It just looks cheap now, with the peeling top. At this rate of peel, I figure we'll have to get a new table or have this one resurfaced within the next couple years. I'm not sure who we'd have look at it, as the "stain" isn't what I think of stain. What I mean by that is, it didn't soak into the wood. I hesitate to say laminate, but that's what it looks like to me.

JeffN: Do not buy a replacement table from them.
Good information and I voted your review as 'Very Helpful'.

FedUp - That is sooo funny, because that's just what the store manager tried to do today. He wanted to give us a table he had on clearance. My wife got to him before I did and went to see the table. When she asked him about the defect. He stated that he'd never seen it before on another table. My wife asked him to guarantee or warranty the replacement table, which he refused to do. We're clearly not dealing with a post-sales friendly company here.
