Circuit City Complaint - Rebates and Customer Service
MARYLAND -- I was in the market for a laptop in March 2007. Circuit City had the one I wanted advertised on sale, plus a $200 rebate. Super duper! I went to the store to purchase and had a very hard time finding someone to wait on me. Finally, I get some young kid who didn't know what he was doing. Of course, the laptop I wanted was out of stock and he couldn't tell me when it would be in again. I asked him if he would sell the display model for further discount. He had to ask the manager who couldn't be bothered at first because he was on lunch break. Nice, huh? After much ado, it took 2 employees plus the manager to sell me the darn laptop. The kid was unable to get the rebate information to print with the sale and told me where to find it on the website. The manager told me that there should not be any problems with the rebate since I had all of the UPC code and other information.
After being in the store for over 2 hrs I really just wanted to get out of there so I didn't care. Turns out the rebate forms could not be found on the website. I contacted Circuit City who said they would gladly mail me the forms. Waited a few weeks and called again. This time the rep. said she would take my information over the phone and have a check to me within the week. Instead I received a letter denying my rebate submission. I sent a letter back with a copy of the receipt.
No response from Circuit City. Subsequent e-mails and phone calls to Circuit City were unsatisfactory. It's now almost 6 months since I purchased the frigging laptop and I am still arguing with Circuit City about the rebate. They now say the rebate was not applicable to open box items.
Do not purchase anything from this store. They do not care about the consumer on any level.
