Travelocity Complaint - Beware of hidden membership fee
I checked Kayak.com for a reservation and was switched over to Travelocity. I filled out all the information for the trip, including my credit card number, and seat picks. I was then sent to a screen that said that I need to sign up as a member. I did everything they asked but I didn't receive a confirmation that this ticket had been confirmed. Instead they asked me to make a new reservation. This was very confusing, so I called my American Express card to see if I had been charged for the ticket. They said no but I had been charged $21. I searched the Travelocity website to see where I could ask why I had been charged $21 but there was nowhere to ask. There is no phone number offered. I then googled it to find it. So here is their phone number for everyone who needs it:
I spoke with a representative (after waiting the requisite 20 minutes on hold with the MOST ANNOYING "music" and "conversation") who told me to write a letter. I informed him that if he would not help me, I would take this up with American Express who would file a dispute and that this would go on all the web consumer websites I could find. He then paused and said that the $21 was a "handling fee" that Travelocity charges. I said, "so Travelocity charged me for handling a ticket that they never actually booked?" he said, yes.
Thank you Travelocity. Advice: Go buy your airline tickets directly from the airlines or through your credit card travel agent!!
