Ashley Furniture Complaint - Never Buy At Ashley's
TYLER, TEXAS -- On 8/6/07 I bought (and paid for) an (upholstered) sofa and a chaise from Ashley Furniture in Tyler, Texas. These items were delivered on 8/18. Unfortunately the arm on the chaise was ripped. Whether it was ripped before or during the delivery I do not know. The delivery guys said they'd leave it in my home and the store would bring out a replacement in a week or two. I received a few phone calls asking what arm it was and promising me it would be fixed. On 8/31 I went to the store asking for progress, only to find out the arm wasn't even ordered. I should have learned my lesson (or better yet checked on this site) by then, but I proceeded to buy a set of dining table and 4 chairs that day too. Today (9/12) they delivered the table and chairs, but one chair was scratched so I refused to take it.
I then went to the store to ask what they plan to do with the missing chair (am I to wait another 4 weeks for that too?) and what is going on with my chaise. The only answer I get is that the new arm hasn't been sent from the factory and they're sorry (!). This is all a bunch of baloney, cause if I'd bought 2 chaises, they'd have delivered 2, meaning that of course there's another one out there, they just refuse to deliver a new one, cause I've already paid for this, so they just don't care.
They've had my money since 8/6 so they're happy and could care less if I get my furniture or when. I am going to give the store (in writing) 1 week more to resolve this problem to my satisfaction, or this will go to the Better Business Bureau, my lawyer, the local TV station and whoever else will listen, and I hope to get through to all of Tyler, TX, NOT to shop at Ashley's - maybe they'll take notice then.
I advise all you other people that have similar experience with Ashley's to do the same.
