Circuit City Complaint - Toshiba laptop purchased at Circuit City
THOUSAND OAKS, CALIFORNIA -- I purchased a Toshiba Laptop at the Thousand Oaks, CA Circuit City store in April of 2006. I purchased the top of the line laptop protection program at $500. The laptop repeatedly shut itself off after a short time of being on. I returned the laptop for a new one. The second laptop did the same thing. I found a patch at the Toshiba site and fixed it myself. Circuit City and their warranty repair knew nothing about the patch and just simply didn't cover "software". Three months later keys falling off and battery lasting 30 minutes. Needed repair again. Warranty coverage required sending laptop out again for 3-4 weeks. Now one year later, keys again don't work AGAIN, computer shuts itself off, and battery doing same nonsense. Warranty requires another shipment for 3-4 weeks. My business depends on my laptop, however this piece of junk and the lack of support for $500 is absurd. $500 wasted, much dishonesty from Circuit City and their employees. Manager of store "Warren", won't do anything except refund the warranty. Great then I'm stuck with a non working computer. Tried to call corporate, got "Maleen" on the phone. She said she was transferring me to manager of marketing. On hold a long time, then realized the person that answered the phone was in tech support at the warranty company. The warranty company told me they were NOT part of Circuit City and that their name is Assurant Solutions.
They told me the same thing - Send the laptop out yet again for several weeks OR I can have my money back on the warranty and stay with the nonworking computer. As an aside I got a D*ll for my son through the government employee program, paid $250 for next day repair service in my home with 3 years of McAffee, and Lo Jack for stolen computers. I wish I had known before purchasing from Circuit City. I will never purchase from Circuit City again. And certainly I would never purchase a Toshiba again.
This has been too much and such a waste of time and money. I want my money back and to be done with that awful Toshiba laptop. I will continue to post this article and more until I receive resolution.
