Denny's Restaurant Complaint - Poor Service - Food

Food - Complaint
Review by old fart on 2007-09-14
SAGINAW, MICHIGAN -- I am in the habit of meeting my old working buddies for breakfast or lunch at the local Denny's restaurant in Saginaw Michigan.
Rarely, if ever do we get anything like prompt service, but today was particularly bad.
We waited almost 20 minutes for someone to offer us a cup of coffee or menu when it was clear that there were almost no customers in the restaurant. As a matter of fact We had to hunt down a manager to find a waitress who would accommodate us.
After we had to beg for attention, several servers finally appeared, probably from the breakroom, to serve the customers in the front of the house.
As a matter of fact, it took several minutes for the manager to appear.
I plan to forward this to Denny's corporate and see if it evokes any reaction faster than the service at the local location!

The manager did pick up the tab for my buddies meal

Appears to be a typical Denny's to me.

Old fart, they most likely know you guys and just figured you were old and senile and would forget when you came in anyway. LOL

Denny’s in most places I have been lately are like this and it might be time to look for another place.

Agree with OP. Good info.

Does Denny's still make those "skillet entree`s? I used to love the country skillet. OF, you and your crew should try another place centrally located.... ( ? )

I would HATE to work at a "corporate office" for any food joint. Constant bickering of "I waited too long" "food was cold" "employee was rude".

The host/hostess probably sat you in a section that wasn't covered by anybody. A lot of time when servers get overloaded its because the hosts jam them with too many people and they are just trying to fit people wherever even though it may not result in the best customer service. My wife was a waitress when she was going through school and she would always come home complaining about the hosts slamming her with too many tables sitting at the exact same time, so some had to wait longer for service. But they should have known you were there, if they were smart enough to do that though, they would be working elsewhere.
I haven't had a Moon Over My Hammy in awhile.

OF..I have had the same results at Denny's in several cities..I just quit going there

If it were me I'd tell Dennys to kiss my hamlet then I'd try to find a locally owned mom and pop joint where the food would be better, the service friendlier and my repeated business remembered and appreciated. Denny's is overpriced slop and served as such.

Good review Old Fart. I voted your contribution "Very Helpful".

PS

You're profile page rocks!

Fart, there are some great Denny's, OK Denny's and really bad Denny's. It's a roll of the dice as to which you will walk into on any given day.

I think they knew who you were and decided to treat you accordingly.
Posted by Mason35 on 2008-04-10:
If you go in there everyday and were a descent customer/tipper/person in general you probably would be treated better. I love the exaggerations as well. How many people ran out of the breakroom. Do you know that TIPS stands for To Insure Proper Service. Think about it you coffee drinkin old cooc. Stop complaining about EVERYTHING. Why would you call corporate to complain about waiting for your coffee. Go buy a coffe maker. People are so helpless and arrogant these days.

I have been waitressing for 7 years and I am still waiting to find a restaurant with an employee break room...
